Key Concept

With the release of SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.5 comes new features, such as the ability to visualize geographic information using new filtering, navigation, and export components and map integration options. With these new features, SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio becomes a true dashboarding environment that helps companies achieve their overall business intelligence (BI) strategy goals.

With the release of SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.5 there are two important new components for filtering data and enabling users to navigate the data. Before the 1.5 release, the filter panel was available with the option to choose if you can navigate and filter data or perform both these tasks with a single component. Now you have the new filter line component to provide a different type of filtering and also the option to add a pure navigation panel to your dashboard.

An Overview of SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.5’s New Components

In my first part of this series, “What’s New in SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio 1.5 to Enhance Performance (Part 1),” the focus was on the performance-related topics of SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio release 1.5. Here I look at some of the new components—such  as the new filter panel and filter line components—as well as some of the added capabilities, such as the ability to export data to PDF files and to add maps to a dashboard.

The New Filter Line Component

The filter line component is a small filter component that allows users to set up filter values with any dimensions and key figures.
