Optimal Solutions Wins SAP HANA Real-Time Data Challenge at TechEd

  • Posted 10/22/2012 by Gary Byrne

Congratulations to the team at Optimal Solutions Integration for winning the SAP HANA Real-Time data challenge at TechEd last week. The contest pitted SAP HANA deployment teams from Bluefin and Optimal Solutions against each other to see which team could deploy SAP Business Planning and Consolidation data sets on SAP HANA more effectively.

According to Haji aref’s blog,” the Optimal team took SAP BPC financial data in SAP BW, migrated it to HANA, restated the financial data, built reports and dashboards and even rendered data on mobile devices.” The judges of the contest were employees of a major North American food maker that provided the data and the requirements.

The win at TechEd is the second one within a month for the Optimal team led by Optimal SAP HANA Practice Director Leon Reznick and Optimal SAP BI Solution and Practice Director Jeremy Stierwalt. Optimal won the first annual ASUG BusinessObjects Users Group Conference Developer Wars last month.

In response to a question about what lessons the Optimal team learned from the competition, Optimal team member Dmitry Faybysh commented as follows:

“I believe it has become clear to us is that the analytics space is converging and that it’s no longer silos of different technologies. Analytics has officially converged into a fully integrated solution that includes BPC for finance, Business Objects BI for sales, marketing, and operations, and a mobile platform for everyone across multiple devices and on a HANA data warehouse.

We won the competition not purely because of the speed or performance of data. That’s what everyone can do with HANA. We won because of the user experience, because we created one version of the truth across the entire enterprise and because we touch every user in the enterprise breaking down the corporate silos of finance, sales, marketing, and operations.”

I’m curious to know if your organization plans to deploy BPC data sets on SAP HANA. If your organization has such a plan, is it using a consultancy such as Optimal or Bluefin? Message me at gary.byrne@wispubs.com or tweet at @GaryBWIS.
