See what a North American utility company (ABC Ltd.) learned after completing a proof of concept for implementing SAP Process Control.

I worked with a major North American utilities organization (referred to as ABC Ltd.) to complete a proof of concept to help it see the benefits of implementing SAP Process Control. By the end of the process, the company viewed SAP Process Control as a massive value  to the extent that the business case was amended to suggest that the cost of the implementation was an investment and not just an overhead that ABC Ltd. had to take on to be compliant.

The outcome of the pilot was to gain budget approval and ABC Ltd. is working on a three-phase implementation and roll-out of SAP GRC solutions (including SAP Access Control and SAP Process Control). In this case study, I discuss how ABC Ltd. outlined a plan to use SAP Process Control to meet the regulatory requirements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC). Table 1 lists the roles of the FERC and NERC.
