For Power Users, Testing a New Universe Means Knowing Your Audience

Find out three things a power user needs to know before starting to test a new universe.

From Michael Welter’s experience, it’s common for companies to revise existing SAP BusinessObjects universes.

Updated business needs and advancing developer education are both prime reasons that universes undergo changes, said Welter, a professional services consultant at Claraview who also blogs about BusinessObjects on Michael’s BI Safari.

When universes are revised, testing becomes important before rolling out the universe to users. Power users make good universe testers because “they’re the ones who have to live with [universes] day in and day out,” Welter said. In other words, power users need to be happy with the universes they work with.
