Within the European Union (EU), most companies that export or import goods from other EU countries must report the cross-border movements of goods to the statistical authorities in their country. This reporting is called Intrastat reporting. Only small companies, with cross-border turnover within the EU of less than € 300,000, don’t have to do Intrastat reporting. Very large companies (those with turnover outside the EU of more than € 900,000) also have to report goods movement to countries outside the EU — this is called Extrastat reporting.
